What goes on the checklist

Every checklist starts with five steps that apply to any trade: pull the right spec section, read its submittal articles, tag each product to its paragraph, declare your own deviations, and keep a copy of what you sent. Then come the six checks for your division, built from the deviation taxonomy Deviation Check uses to review submittals:

  1. Products - the named manufacturers and models match the spec, or you have written approval for the swap.
  2. Performance - each value on the data sheet meets or beats the spec number.
  3. Certifications - the actual test reports and listings are attached.
  4. Finishes - colors, textures, and profiles match the selection.
  5. Details - dimensions, anchorage, and installation match the spec and drawings.
  6. Package - every item the spec asks for is in the package.
